A number of non-riders turned up just for the jumble, contributing to a fair attendance considering the recent bad weather and it being quite a cold day, though the roads had largely dried up and the skies remained clear for the ride.
The AGM was held before the run, which set off around 11:15am. There were a couple of New Hudson long-tank autocycles, ridden by Paul Weston & Steven Pryke, tracked around the course by an Excelsior Consort piloted by Mick Bugg.
Mopeds: Zundapp ZD40 (Steve Cobb), Puch Maxi (Shane Mayhew), Mobylette AV92 (Geoff Daw), Honda PX50 (Melvyn Pettitt), and Mercury Mercette (Mark Daniels). The other 20ish machines were a variety of Japanese motor cycles & a CZ125. One advantage of riding with more of these relatively modern machines is you experience fewer breakdowns than with a larger group of clapped-out old bangers (we had none), so manage to maintain a steady pace around the circuit.
It’s good when you get older autocycles and mopeds running at the speeds of more modern machinery along country green lanes… Good ride!
